The actor's ENERGY and PASSION, its usage, his ability to VISUALIZE  with POWER,  to LISTEN  and his knowledge of the EMOTIONS in playing the moment are his most important tools in telling the STORY.

TALENT IS THE ABILITY TO PERFORM A TASK WITHOUT
THINKING ABOUT THE PROCESS.

ACTING IS STORYTELLING
 -IS, ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE-

Stories are told by the characters by COLORING  the events with EMOTIONS.

ACTING, (STORYTELLING)  IS BECOMING FREED FROM THE DOGMAS
AND AUTHORITY OF THE OLD SYSTEMS.

In order to tell the story, the actor must first
KNOW  THE STORY.

"Don't ask Me what my Stories are meant to Express, ask Yourself what they Mean to You."

Next, he must create a character that is anyone but himself, it is always an ASSUMED FANTASY CHARACTER.  The actor can shape his character to anything his  IMAGINATION  can deliver.

"YOU MUST SEE THE CHARACTER BEFORE YOU CAN BE THE CHARACTER."


The actor will learn how to Create  MEMORIES for his CHARACTER:

EMOTIONAL MEMORIES; KNOWLEDGE MEMORIES; PHYSICAL MEMORIES
AND ANTICIPATION OF FUTURE EVENTS.

None of these memories have anything whatever to do with the actor's  OWN MEMORIES, they are fantasy memories.

  This process of creation is called a  BACK STORY.

 A BACK STORY is a complete life history (from birth) and a psychological profile
(what makes him tick) of the Character. (in writing)

WE ARE NOT INTERPRETIVE ARTISTS, WE ARE NOT ANALYTICAL ARTISTS,
WE ARE CREATIVE ARTISTS.

MOST ACTORS ANALYZE TOO MUCH
AND CREATE TOO LITTLE.


"A MAN ISN'T AN ACTOR UNTIL HE COMMANDS A TECHNIQUE WHICH ENABLES HIM TO GET AN IMPRESSION ACROSS INTO THE HEART OF AN AUDIENCE WITHOUT REFERENCE OR RELATION TO HIS OWN INDIVIDUALITY.  THE BETTER THE ACTOR, THE MORE COMPLETELY IS HE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE
PERSONAL EQUATION."

I HAVE ADDED TO JOHN BARRYMORE'S QUOTE: "AND THE POORER THE ACTOR,
THE MORE HE MUST RELY ON HIS OWN PERSONALITY (PERSONAL EQUATION) TO TELL THE STORY".


Finally, the actor learns  (NOT MEMORIZES) the dialogue.
(MEMORIZATION IS RECITATION - FENCE POST ACTING)

He must never attempt to address the dialogue  BEFORE LEARNING THE STORY and CREATING THE CHARACTER.

(If you buy a bag of seed corn, you must first have a place to plant it)

ACTING IS STORYTELLING © FOCUSES FIRST ON KNOWING THE STORY, SECOND ON CHARACTER CREATION AND LAST ON LEARNING THE DIALOGUE.

Using the system, the actor learns how to learn dialogue  (AND THAT MEANS ALL CHARACTER'S DIALOGUE) up to the rate of  A PAGE IN TEN MINUTES.
 (with practice)

THE FOCUS OF THE SYSTEM IS ON THE STORY, AND THE CHARACTER,
NOT THE DIALOGUE.

SHAKE THE DIALOGUE UNTIL ALL THE WORDS
FALL AWAY; WHAT IS LEFT IS TRUE ACTING.
